The OCTEON® II CN68XX family of Multi-Core
MIPS64 Processors targets high-performance, high-throughput,
service-rich applications in secure datacenter, mobile
internet, and borderless enterprise applications. The
family includes six software and pin-compatible processors,
with 16 to 32 cnMIPS64 v2 cores, over 85 application
acceleration engines, and innovative realtime Power
Optimizer features, providing the highest compute and
services performance of any standard ISA processor with
Extremely high-bandwidth connectivity based on the latest
standards-based SERDES I/O’s including PCIe Gen2,
XAUI, Double-speed XAUI, RXAUI, SGMII, and Interlaken
enable throughputs up to 40Gbps using a single chip
or scaling to over 100Gbps using multiple chips. The
CN68XX offers a 3x total compute advantage and 2x performance
per Watt advantage over alternative solutions.
The CN68XX processors offer the highest compute for demanding 4G/LTE infrastructure applications,
switch/router and ATCA blades, and high-performance
appliances. With 20 configurable Gen2 SERDES, 4 DDR3
controllers, a 4MB L2 Cache, and complete application
acceleration, including packet processing, Encryption/Decryption,
Deep Packet Inspection (RegEx), Compression/decompression,
De-duplication, RAID, and Multi-core scaling, the CN68XX
offers both the highest compute available as well as
the highest throughput processing and services.

with high-frequency cores up to 1.4GHz, large and highly-associative
L1 and L2 caches, and up to 400Gbps of DDR3 DRAM bandwidth.
Supported by industry-standard software toolchains and operating systems, the CN68XX offers 2X to 5X performance, power, and real-estate advantage over alternatives, and is fully pin and software compatible with the OCTEON II CN67XX 8 to 16 processors, enabling scalability from 8 to 32 cores with the same hardware and software design. OCTEON II family is fully software compatible with the widely-adopted OCTEON Plus family, enabling straightforward software reuse.
