Cavium Networks India Development Center to develop world class software solutions for network security and application aware networks

Cavium Networks, the semiconductor industry's most respected private chip company, to aggressively expand its India Development Center to develop comprehensive software solutions for award-winning silicon portfolio

Hyderabad, India, February 1, 2005 - Cavium Networks, the leader in content and security processing, today announced an aggressive growth plan for its Hyderabad-based India Development Center to expand Cavium Networks' leadership position with comprehensive content and security processing software solutions. The development center will greatly expand Cavium Networks software development capabilities for its award-winning NITROX security processors as well as the recently announced OCTEON Network Services Processor that includes 2 to 16 MIPS64T cores, along with built-in hardware acceleration for content and security processing.

Cavium Networks, founded in 2001, has quickly become the undisputed market leader for security semiconductor solutions with products addressing VPN, SSL, Wireless LAN security ranging in performance from 50Mbps to 10Gbps. Its expanding customer base includes over 90 customers, including 9 of the top 10 VPN and SSL OEMs, who are using Cavium Networks processors in over 150 different hardware designs. Cavium Networks' chip design team based in Massachusetts consists mostly of engineers from DEC's EV7 Alpha processor team, which was the world's fastest microprocessor at the time. The company's management team boasts executives from Intel, Cisco, Broadcom, PMC-Sierra, Digital/Compaq and IDT. Advisors to the company include the inventors of IPsec, SSL and Ethernet technologies. Cavium Networks' India Development Center is led by Rakesh Bindlish, a 20-year veteran of developing semiconductor and embedded products who previously led Adaptec Hyderabad's embedded systems micro-code organization.

The India development Center (IDC) will play a critical role in developing software for Cavium's processors. Software development activities will include development of microcode, drivers and application stacks for Cavium's industry leading line of NITROX and OCTEON security and content processors. IDC will also be involved in customizing software based upon customer requirements. Cavium Networks plans to at least double the IDC headcount by end of the year.

"Cavium Networks delivers complete chip and software solution for network security and content aware networks. These markets are seeing exponential year over year growth and our IDC will play a very important role in developing market leadership in this explosive segment," said Syed Ali, President and CEO, Cavium Networks. "Cavium Networks is positioned to become the number one supplier of processors used in the next generation of secure, intelligent networking equipment. Our India development center will help us provide world-class software solutions for our customers."
