Unveils Packet Accelerator AdvancedMC and PCI-x Modules
Cavium Networks OCTEON Plus™ processor based
Intelligent Ethernet Modules deliver Advanced Packet Processing

– Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading international
supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today
introduced a portfolio of standards based packet accelerator
products based on the Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM) OCTEON
Plus family of Network Service Processors to address the emerging
needs of security, deep packet inspection, packet routing
and policy based forwarding and pattern matching functions
in next generation networks.
The portfolio includes:
- The iSPAN 36CA quad Gigabit Ethernet mid-size and full-size
AdvancedMC modules for use in AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA and
other proprietary platforms
- The iSPAN 55CA quad Gigabit Ethernet PCI-x module for
use with rack-mount server platforms.

The iSPAN 36CA and iSPAN 55CA packet accelerator products
are ideal modules for use across a wide variety of applications
including ASN Gateways and Base Stations in WIMAX networks,
Radio Network Controllers, Packet Access Gateways and Gateway
GPRS Service Nodes in Wideband-CDMA 3G/HSPA/LTE networks and
security and content inspection appliances.
Cavium Networks’ industry leading OCTEON family of multi-core
processors, with low power and high packet processing performance,
provide integrated hardware acceleration engines for security
and data content, co-processors for TCP offload, Anti-Virus,
IDS, compression and decompression, advanced Layer4+ hardware
acceleration and future proof software compatibility, making
them the ideal choice for a wide range of packet processing
applications in the network.
The AMC 2.0 compliant iSPAN 36CA, with quad Gigabit Ethernet
and PCI-e x4 connectivity on the AdvancedMC connector, is
offered with up to 1GB of memory and up to 32MB of optional
16 bit RLDRAM memory, and is suitable for usage in a wide
variety of AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA based application platforms.
The iSPAN 55CA is an intelligent full-size PCI-x quad Gigabit
Ethernet network interface card, with PCI-x connectivity to
the host and a SPI4.2 connector for back to back connectivity
of cards. It is offered with up to 4GB of memory and up to
32MB of optional 16 bit RLDRAM memory, and is suitable for
use with enterprise class and carrier grade rack mount server
platforms.
Both products will be delivered with a modular software offering
including operating system, software development toolset and
fast path data processing modules.
In addition to the iSPAN 36CA and 55CA products Interphase
offers a broad range of AdvancedMC, AdvancedTCA, PCI-x/PCI-e
