OCTEON™ Plus CN55XX Multi-Core MIPS64 Based Storage Services Processors
|
The OCTEON Plus CN55XX family of Multi-core MIPS64 Storage Services Processors targets intelligent storage processing requirements in low-end to mid-range storage switches, arrays, appliances, and servers. The family includes six software-compatible processors, with two to six cnMIPS64 cores at up to 1GHz speed on a single chip that integrate high-density, high-bandwidth standard interfaces along with the most advanced storage RAID, security, and storage application acceleration.
RAID acceleration on the CN55XX provides full line-rate hardware XOR and Galois Field processing for robust RAID 4/5/6, fully offloading the CPU. The CN55XX processors extend the rich encryption/decryption processing capabilities of the OCTEON family to include XTS for securing data-at-rest. Integrated hardware acceleration for compression/decompression, TCP, de-duplication, and unique Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features provide a fully integrated storage processing solution, replacing multiple processors, coprocessors, and ASICs in legacy designs. Supported by an industry-standard software toolchain and operating systems, the CN55XX offers major performance, power, and real estate value proposition over alternatives.
